Adventures and Mousecapades: A Podcast About Disney
212. Would You Rather...? Disney Movies!
Doors close, choices open. We’re diving headfirst into a cascade of Disney Would You Rather dilemmas that test how we think about mentors, sidekicks, power, and responsibility, all while keeping the fun at full throttle. From Yen Sid’s steady hand to Merlin’s lovable chaos, we explore what good guidance really looks like and why structure vs. spontaneity is a decision you make as much as a personality you have.
We square off on sidekicks—Mushu’s snark and magic versus Pascal’s quiet loyalty—and unpack why conversation, humor, and a little dragon fire can change the course of a hero’s journey. Then it’s tools and power: Mary Poppins’ bottomless carpet bag or the Robin Williams–level whirlwind of a rules-bound genie. We talk constraints, creativity, and why having limits can sharpen the wish you truly want. Add Maui’s hook versus a magic carpet, and we hit the big question: is freedom the ability to go anywhere, or the power to become what the moment needs?
Our map gets bigger with world choices: the neon tech of San Fransokyo or the layered communities of Zootopia. One of us craves invention and labs; the other dreams of social design that celebrates difference. We bring that lens to everyday life with Baymax’s gentle healthcare support versus WALL·E’s eco-minded cleanup—care for the body or care for the planet—and push further into team dynamics: the scrappy resilience of the Resistance or the specialized punch of the Avengers. Fashion even gets strategic with Edna Mode’s tailored clarity against the Fairy Godmother’s high-reach magic. And we end with the ultimate risk call: accept Maleficent’s curse or negotiate Ursula’s contract. Spoiler: we’re reading the fine print and bringing a pen.
Join us, pick your path, and tell us where you land. Subscribe, leave a quick review, and share this episode with the Disney lover in your life—then drop your choices and why. Which dilemma did you agonize over the most?

Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor, manténganse alajado. Please stand clear of the doors.
Alicea:Hello everyone. I'm Alicea.
Nathan:And I'm Nathan.
Alicea:Welcome to this week's episode of Adventures and Mouscapades. This week we are doing another Would You Rather? Because it was fun.
Nathan:Yes, I would rather. Let's do it again.
Alicea:All right.
Nathan:Yeah. All right. We are going to look at our category of movies, characters, and lore. Yes. Not more. Lore.
Alicea:La la la la la.
Nathan:La la la la la lore. So I'll start off. Alicea. Ooh, this is a good one. Would you rather be mentored by Yen Sid or Merlin? Um let's see.
Alicea:So Yen Sid is from The Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia.
Nathan:Correct.
Alicea:And Merlin is from The Sword and the Stone.
Nathan:Correct.
Alicea:Having seen both of those multiple times, I would actually want to be mentored by Yen Sid because Merlin doesn't really do any mentoring at all. It is Archimedes the Owl who really does the mentoring.
Nathan:Okay.
Alicea:Merlin is kind of very chaotic and flighty and doesn't really teach much of anything.
Nathan:Hmm. I was going to take the opposite. And I will grant you that it's been a hot minute since I've watched that movie. And I didn't remember much about Merlin other than kind of chief chaos energy going on there. Uh I'm going to assume that the owl's part of the package. So like inserting into that universe. I would rather deal with chaos. Yen Sid comes off kind of as a hard ass to me. It just does now. Mickey earned Yen Sid getting a little ticked off.
Alicea:Yes.
Nathan:So like I I un I I get that. However, I I I my gut says go with Merlin. So go with Merlin.
Alicea:I think we don't see enough of Yen Sid. True. At the very end, it his his like um stern whatnot turns a little bit to a little softer. Like he's like, because I think Mickey falls asleep or something, and he's kind of like, oh look at him, you know. So I think we just don't see that side to him.
Nathan:Alright, that's fair. That's fair. Well, there's no real way to know. So
Alicea:this is true.
Nathan:Uh our opinions. Did you know that Yen Sid is Disney spelled backwards?
Alicea:Yeah.
Nathan:Okay. Cool. I did too.
Alicea:Okay. Would you rather have Mushu as a sidekick or Pascal as a sidekick? Wait a minute. Hold on. This says, would you rather sidekick Mushu or Pascal?
Nathan:Well I don't want to kick either of them.
Alicea:Does this mean you are their sidekick or?
Nathan:oh! Yeah. Um is that what we're going? You know what?
Alicea:Reading it as is, yeah. It means we would be their sidekick.
Nathan:Okay. I'm going Mushu no matter whether Mushu is my sidekick or I am Mushu's sidekick. Mushu is from Mulan and is Mulan's sidekick, is the family dragon, if memory serves. It's magical.
Alicea:One of the guardians, yeah.
Nathan:Yeah. So, like, there's that whole thing. Pascal, very cool, can change colors, but also has to at least live in the same universe as Mother Gothel. And no, I I want nothing to do with any of that energy at all.
Alicea:She's gone. Don't worry.
Nathan:Now. I I'm I'm just I'm putting myself in the movie, and as things go in the movie, I I don't want to be anywhere near Mother Mother Gothel. Yes. I mushu's where I'm hanging.
Alicea:I agree. I would go with Mushu for the simple fact that you can actually converse with Mushu.
Nathan:Yes, true. And you have a love of dragons. So dragons, yeah. It's not like this is a surprise to me, at least.
Alicea:And he's snarky and I like it.
Nathan:Yes.
Alicea:Yes.
Nathan:All right. Alicea, would you rather have Mary Poppins carpet bag or Genie's rules, but Robin Williams level chaos?
Alicea:Genie's rules for what?
Nathan:I don't know. Um, how about this? Would you rather have Mary Poppin' carpet bag where you could basically pull whatever you want out of the bag, or you get the Robin Williams genie.
Alicea:So do I want a Time Lord trans-dimensional bag?
Nathan:A TARDIS baggy or a genie.
Alicea:A genie. I'm gonna go genie.
Nathan:Yeah. I'm gonna go genie, if nothing else, because I really want to hang out with a Robin Williams genie.
Alicea:Yes, that would be fun.
Nathan:That would be a chaos for sure. A hundred percent. And if you really wanted to, you could ask that genie to bring Mary Poppins and her carpet bag along.
Alicea:Yeah. It's just the bag of holding. It doesn't like come preset with stuff in it, does it? It's not it's not like a magic bag where anything you want appears out of it.
Nathan:That's actually where my brain went. Okay. Is you could pull whatever you want out of the bag. And therefore, it's similar to a genie, whereas with the genie, you only get three wishes, but you get Robin Williams and chaos with it. So like that's pretty awesome.
Alicea:Okay. Next.
Nathan:Would you rather which one did you say? Are you going you're going genie? Okay. All right. All right, got it. Sorry. I I spaced. Genie, genie. Okay. Genie, genie.
Alicea:Would you rather live in San Fransokyo or Zootopia?
Nathan:Ooh. Okay, so San Fransokyo from Big Hero Six, a very kind of tech forward futuristic city with a ton of really cool gadgets. And you still have uh corporations and evil people. Or Zootopia, where all the animals for the most part get along, although arguably, if all the animals get along, why do you need a police force? And it's basically trying to be a utopia.
Alicea:Zootopia.
Nathan:Right. I'm gonna go Zootopia.
Alicea:Really?
Nathan:Yeah, I'm tempted by San Fransokyo with just the culture and the technology for sure. I think that would be amazing. But the culture of everybody just getting along and all the rest of like Zootopia would be really cool. Like I think younger me would go San Fransokyo and nerd out. I'm gonna go Zootopia. I may have a different opinion tomorrow, but you're asking me today, and my brain says Zootopia.
Alicea:I'm I'm gonna go San Fransokyo.
Nathan:Okay.
Alicea:Personally. I the whole tech thing, I think it's really cool.
Nathan:Um you and your little personal EMP bubble would fry everything and nothing would work.
Alicea:Yeah, that's true. I don't care. I love big hero six. I love just the the city looks so cool. It I'm not really a city person, but I think I would like that more than Zootopia. That's just me.
Nathan:That's her. I mean, it's Zootopia does have like suburbs. I mean, that's where the bunny family lives.
Alicea:And yeah.
Nathan:But look, there's no wrong answers here.
Alicea:No. This is my current preference.
Nathan:Okay. Sounds good. Speaking of, would you rather have Baymax as a healthcare companion or Wall-E as an eco assistant?
Alicea:Oh, this is fun.
Nathan:Um This is a good question.
Alicea:So Baymax from Big Hero 6 as a healthcare companion. He could scan me if I'm not feeling great and let me know. Here's what you need. Or Wall-E from Wall-E as an eco assistant. What exactly is an eco assistant?
Nathan:He cleans up after you.
Alicea:Yeah. I I think I would rather have Baymax as a healthcare companion.
Nathan:Especially because I have Wall-E tattooed on my arm, and Wall-E’s always with you.
Alicea:Wall-E’s always
Nathan:Well, it's always with me, technically.
Alicea:But No, I just I I I think I think we'd end up getting more use out of Baymax.
Nathan:Especially me.
Alicea:Uh yeah.
Nathan:I mean, he's also kind of fun to have around in general, too. Like he can do other things, but his primary goal is to, you know, fix you, and I need a lot of fixing. Yeah, Baymax. Uh, as much as I actually literally do have Wall-E tattooed on my arm.
Alicea:Yeah.
Nathan:Uh Baymax.
Alicea:That's just because it's a couples tattoo.
Nathan:Yes, it is. I have Wall-E on my arm. Alicea has Eve. They look at each other from the scene where they're flying through out of space when uh we hold hands.
Alicea:We're so cute.
Nathan:Because we're Disney nerd adults.
Alicea:All right. Would you rather join the Resistance or the Avengers?
Nathan:Oh. Oh. Hmm. Um. Well, I was about to say everybody, at least in the Avengers, survives.
Alicea:Uh, no
Nathan:you do have superpowers that way.
Alicea:Um, no.
Nathan:What do you mean no?
Alicea:Does Hawkeye have superpowers? Have you seen him? Does Tony Stark have superpowers?
Nathan:Super capabilities.
Alicea:Black Widow does Natasha have superpowers?
Nathan:Yeah. Have you seen her fight?
Alicea:That's not a superpower.
Nathan:Okay, super capabilities.
Alicea:Okay.
Nathan:Yeah. Um, whereas with the resistance, you're you're just likely gonna be cannon fodder. Um
Alicea:Wow.
Nathan:Yeah. Um but outer space.
Alicea:We could do that with the Avengers too.
Nathan:I was just gonna say that. I have been a Star Wars kid for far, far longer than I have been a uh a Marvel cinematic universe fan. I'm gonna join the resistance.
Alicea:I think I have better survival capabilities if I am with the Avengers.
Nathan:That's that's fair. That's fair. I I I don't disagree.
Alicea:I I don't know that I'd want to necessarily be in a world with the first order and the empire to fight.
Nathan:Thus leave the cannon fodder comment.
Alicea:Yeah,
Nathan:I I get that. I get that. Um although if you're joining the resistance versus the Avengers, is this like you're some lowly person who's probably gonna get a blaster to the chest or versus like a main character in Star Wars who's with the resistance?
Alicea:Oh, I don't know.
Nathan:Like, are you a Jedi or are you in the uh in the Avengers? Hmm. Hmm.
Alicea:Avengers. Okay. It's also current technology stuff.
Nathan:That's fair.
Alicea:Or newer technology stuff. It is not a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Nathan:No. Very true. Very true. Yeah, I ha I'm debating now. Okay, it it would be I may have a much shorter life, but I like the Star Wars universe.
Alicea:That's fine.
Nathan:All right, fair enough. Ooh, okay, Alicea, this is a good one for you. Would you rather have an Edna mode style consultant or a fashion deal with the fairy godmother? Capes are negotiable.
Alicea:Okay, so for this, this is just this is a style consult versus a fashion deal. So a one-time thing versus maybe a fashion line type thing, because that's what it sounds like with a fashion deal. And as much as I really love Edna Mode, and I do, I think having a fashion deal with the fairy godmother would be more lucrative.
Nathan:Lucrative. Wow. Wow. Okay. Your color palette's gonna be fairly limited with the fairy godmother.
Alicea:Why?
Nathan:It's only gonna be pink or blue.
Alicea:Uh wrong.
Nathan:Wrong movie. Yeah. Never mind.
Alicea:Fairy godmother is not Flora, Fauna, or Merryweather.
Nathan:No, I realized that right after it fell out of my face. Um I'm gonna go into the Edna mode universe if for no other reason than I really love the soundtrack. Okay. And I don't need a cape. It's fine. Yeah. Yeah. I'm I'm going with Edna.
Alicea:Okay.
Nathan:Darling.
Alicea:Darling.
Nathan:Yes.
Alicea:That's Cruella. And Edna.
Nathan:Yes, and Edma. Okay. Edma? Edna.
Alicea:I didn't say Edma.
Nathan:I did. It fell out of my face. I have weird things falling out of my face.
Alicea:Wow.
Nathan:They're called words. They're just mispronuncified.
Alicea:Is this wicked?
Nathan:Maybe.
Alicea:Pronuncify. All right.
Nathan:I did grow up in New England. Yes. It was wicked awesome.
Alicea:Would you rather ride magic carpet or wield Maui's hook responsibly?
Nathan:Um, I'd rather wield Maui's hook. I could fly if I wanted to. I could swim. I could kind of turn into whatever the heck I wanted to, as long as my hook wasn't broken and I remembered how to use it correctly.
Alicea:Sharkhead.
Nathan:Yeah. I'm I'm going I'm going Maui.
Alicea:Yeah, I I agree because you could change into any animal that you wanted to. So you could do the flying, you could do the swimming, whatever. I agree.
Nathan:Yep. Cool. All right, Alicea. This one is difficult. Would you rather be cursed by Maleficent or make a deal with Ursula?
Alicea:Ooh. Uh for me this is quite easy.
Nathan:Really?
Alicea:Because if you are cursed by Maleficent, you have no say in it at all. It's just whatever she comes up with.
Nathan:Oh.
Alicea:If you make a deal with Ursula, you are making a deal. There's a contract involved. You can read through that contract and make changes if you're going to make a deal.
Nathan:You're assuming that she's going to allow changes.
Alicea:I don't have to sign it then.
Nathan:Okay. You're going to play hard to get. Yeah. Yeah. That scroll may be miles long, but you're going to read every single last bit of it.
Alicea:If I'm dealing with the Sea Witch, definitely.
Nathan:Okay. Yeah. I actually like that perspective. I think you got that one right. Lawyers are important. And we can read through some legalese and figure it out.
Alicea:Yes.
Nathan:Uh yeah. I mean, we may have to give something up. It depends on what the terms of the deal are, but at least we know we're get something that we want.
Alicea:Yeah.
Nathan:Okay. Yep. Done. Maleficent. It maleficent. Ursula. It is. Ursula. I deal with Ursula. Okay. Rather than being cursed by maleficent. Well, this was fun.
Alicea:Yes.
Nathan:Thank you for uh thank you for playing along.
Alicea:Yeah.
Nathan:I I would ask these questions to our lovely audience listening at home or in the car or at work or wherever you may be. What would you rather do? Who would you rather hang out with? Who would you rather be cursed by?
Alicea:So many things.
Nathan:All of these are interesting questions. Great debate. Let us know in the comments. Send us an email. Drop us a line on socials. You know where to find us. Actually, where do they find us, Alicea?
Alicea:We are at Our Mousecapades on Instagram, Facebook threads, and YouTube.
Nathan:Oh, yeah. And our mousecapades.com. Yeah, that whole place. Just remember, these are our opinions. We're not related to Disney. That would be cool if we were related to Disney, but we're not.
Alicea:We don't work for them either.
Nathan:We don't work for them. We're not sponsored by them. No. We're just, you know, making some making some opinions up. Chatting. Yeah, we're just having chat. Uh if you want to, you know, get the official word from Disney, you should go to their website or work with a travel agent. Find your fantastical way to go hang out with Ursula. Yeah. Sounds like a Disney cruise is in order.
Alicea:If you have any questions or would like to chat with us about your own Disney experiences, please send us an email. We are podcast at our mousecapades.com.
Nathan:And of course, please do give us a rating and review in your podcast app that really absolutely 100% helps people find us.
Alicea:And if you want, you can actually share us with some of your friends or family, anybody who loves Disney.
Nathan:Yeah, that's another way people could find us. So I guess it's not 100% how people find us from the ratings and stuff. No, it's just recommendations. That actually is probably more valid. Yeah. So I mean, you know, five-star ratings are great, but they are.
Alicea:We do appreciate them.
Nathan:Send us to your mom. Send us to your friend. Send us to somebody you hate now. Don't
Alicea:say hi to your mom for me.
Nathan:Yes. I see what you did there. All right, y'all. Thanks for listening. We will be in your ears next week.
Intro:Thank you for flying Star Tours. Bye bye.
